The New Zealand Aid Programme wishes to offer up to 4 New Zealand - ASEAN Scholars Awards 
(NZ-AS) to Thai candidates for full-time postgraduate study at one of nine eligible New Zealand institutions.

 
Fields of study
Strong candidates from all areas will be considered. However, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership qualities, and a commitment
to Thailand and who are 39 years of age or younger at the time of commencing their scholarship. Candidates whose work experience or proposed field of study relates to the following sectors will be given priority.

>> Agriculture Development:
o Agri-business management, agricultureal economics, agricultural systems and management, rural development, domestic supply chains and distrbution
o Biology, vegetable production, livestock/ animal husbandry, crop management, sericulture (silk production), forestry, fisheries, aquaculture, agricultural pest management
o Phytosanitary, bio-security, biotechnology, agricultural trade
o Food production, food sciences/ technology, post-harvest processing, food storage and packaging, food safety

>> Renewable Energy:
o Geothermal, solar, hydro engineering and wind energy, renewable energy distribution systems

>> Disaster Risk Management:
o Disaster response, emergency management
o Hazard assessment and management, natural resource management, environmental management, geology, geotechnical engineering, water resource management
o Climate change adaptation, land planning & development

>> Public Sector Management:
o public administration, public policy and management, public sector leadership and governance, human resource capacity development, information management
o Public financial management, government budgeting, tax reform, public sector auditing, statistics, demography, political science, social policy
o International trade and business, trade facilitation, trade policy

>> Private Sector Development:
o Business/ private sector management and leadership, small and medium sized enterprise (SMEs) development, entrepreneurship, marketing, accountancy
o Value chain development, logistics & supply chain management
o Trade facilitation, economics/ applied economics, business finance, commerce, industrial relations
o Tourism -Ecotourism, tourism management, tourism planning, tourism marketing

>> English Language Teaching

Qualification
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Be a Thai citizen
  • Not have citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, European Union countries, United Kingdom, Japan, Israel, South Korea, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia.
  • Have resided in Thailand for two years prior to application (this condition does not apply to applicants who are members of the diplomatic corps or their dependants)
  • Have at least 2 years of relavant work experience (part time or fulltime, paid or voluntary).
  • Not be serving military personnel.
  • Be able to satisfy Immigration requirements for international student entry to New Zealand (i.e. medical checks, police clearances/character checks, etc.)
  • Be academically and linguistically able to obtain an Offer of Place for the proposed programme of study from the tertiary institute where you will undertake your scholarship.
  • Not have been previously terminated from a New Zealand Government Scholarship.
  • Seek a qualification that will contribute to the sustainable development of Thailand.
  • Commit to return to Thailand for a minimum of 2 years at the end of your scholarship.
